Will's start to 2008

Will has made a typically busy start to 2008: after a relaxing Christmas spent with his family he flew to France for a couple of days. There he mixed business with pleasure by performing one day, and skiing the next!

After that, Will flew back for the New Year, which he spent in Cornwall.

Celebrating done, he kicked off 2008 by getting back to writing in the studio.

However, before coming back he was able to take some time out in New York where he took in some museums and galleries and a show at Fashion Week.

First on the agenda is a shoot he did for Waitrose magazine, where he will appear in the May issue, talking about the new album, life and of course, food!

The Latest with Will

Will's still holed away in the studio, laying down vocals for the new album. He's working in studios across the south-west - though getting around is proving a bit more difficult than usual as his car has just broken down.

However, it's not all work-work-work as he's been out and about enjoying the social side of London Fashion Week, so don't be too surprised if you see him cropping up in the coverage for it.

He's also very excited about presenting at the BRITS - do not miss out on his appearance tomorrow!

Will's still recording back to back in the studio at the moment.

However, he's managed to take a couple of days out of his busy schedule in the last week; one to visit his friends in Brighton and take in some much-needed sea air - you know how much he likes the sea; and another to visit Positive Action in Exeter, to whom he lends his support. He went to discuss fundraising activity for the coming year and we'll keep you posted about what he gets up to.

So sorry to raise and now dash your hopes, but unfortunately, Will will not be on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 show tomorrow.

Unfortunately, he's got stuck in the studio where he's finishing off some vocals on a track.

He, of course, wishes Comedy Dave from the Chris Moyles show and Chappers from the Scott Mills show all the best in their fund-raising activities and will be supporting Sport Relief in his own way.

Will at T in the Park

We can confirm that Will is to play this year's T in the Park at Balado, Kinross-shire in Scotland.

Will will be performing at the intriguingly-titled Pet Sounds Arena on Saturday 12th July.

Unfortunately, the event is already all sold out but for all the info, check into the official site.

Meanwhile, Will has lined up other festival dates but unfortunately we can only confirm Will's involvement as and when the festivals announce their official line-ups themselves.

Glastonbury confirmation!

We are now pleased to reveal that Will is to perform at this year's Glastonbury Festival, which runs between 27th-29th June.

Unfortunately, we cannot yet confirm which stage or which date, he will be playing but we will bring you further details as soon as possible.

Glastonbury's organizer, Michael Eavis has said, 'I can tell you now ahead of all the line-up details which will be coming out on 1st June that we have found a nice little slot for Will Young at the main festival.

'I cannot confirm at the moment which stage and on which day he will be performing but he will be there and we are looking forward to it.'

Back At Ronnie Scott's

After the success of his last date at London's intimate Ronnie Scott's venue, Will is now back to do another one!

He will be performing with Ronnie Scott's big band this Sunday, 13th April.

He will be playing two sets which will feature his inimitable take on a selection of jazz standards as well as a couple of contemporary covers.

Timings are still TBC, but doors will open at 6pm.
Tickets are now on sale (as of Monday 7th April) and are priced at:

We can confirm that Will is also to join a who's-who line-up at this year's Bestival event, which takes place between 5th-7th September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight.

1 Giant Leap: What About Me?

Will is to be featured in the forthcoming Channel 4 documentary series, 1 Giant Leap: What About Me?

Filmed by the visionary duo Duncan Bridgeman and Jamie Catto, it charts their journey across 50 locations, featuring interviews with some of the world's leading actors, thinkers and heroes while weaving together original musical collaborations with soul-searching conversations and stunning imagery.

Will is one of the artists featured alongside the likes of Michael Stipe, Carlos Santana, Maxi Jazz, Alanis Morissette and kd lang while interviews cover Billy Connelly, Bob Geldof, Noam Chomsky, Stephen Fry, Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle and Susan Sarandon to name just a few.

The project straddles TV, film and album. The series is scheduled to run from mid April for 7 weeks on Channel 4 and a DVD of the What About Me project will be available from 9th June 2008.

Will is featured in the very first episode that airs on 23rd April on Channel 4.

The DVD is an album of 11 short films each featuring a piece of music and a theme and a twelfth feature-length film that plays the films continuously.

After his fantastic appearance at Ronnie Scott's, Will has headed straight back to the studio to do the final vocals on his forthcoming material.

Until this point, everything has been in demo form, so soon he will have the shortlist of tracks for the album and B-sides, so it's very exciting all round.

Otherwise, he's just bought himself a new bike, so if you're London-based, keep a look out for him in action.

Will In New York

Will's just returned from a fleeting trip to New York, where he had a fantastic time.

The main reason for his visit was to go to a rather glamorous party hosted by Jefferson Hack and Christopher Bailey for the spring issue of Another Man magazine.

Will stayed at his friends' house and, because the weather was so fantastic, spent the rest of the weekend strolling around the city, reading in Central Park and getting up close to the Statue of
Liberty on the Staten Island Ferry.

Now he's back in Blighty, Will's finessing the new album, relaxing with friends and very much enjoying riding his bike.

At The Sony Music Radio Awards

On Monday (12th May), the Sony Music Radio Awards take place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel - and Will is on hand to present one of the 31 awards.

It's the biggest night in radio and the event celebrates the very best in the industry with the BBC and commercial radio competing for the honours.

The whole event will be webcast from 7pm and is hosted by DJs Richard Allinson and Emma B.

To honour Jarvis Cocker talking about the art of songwriting at the Brighton Festival, The Independent is today running a feature on what makes a good lyric.

And Will is featured in this piece where he talks about his lyrics for 'Home'.

He reveals, 'I was definitely heartbroken when I wrote that. It means a lot to me because it's a sad song but there's positivity in it. I think that's what songs should be.'

Music Managers Forum performance

Last night saw Will attending and performing at the Music Managers' Forum.

He performed two of his favourite standards, 'Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby?' and 'Summertime' in honour of his manager, Simon Fuller who was there to receive the Peter Grant Award which honoured his achievement in management. It was presented by fellow 19 Entertainment artist Annie Lennox.

Check the media today to see what happened. Meanwhile, the MMF seeks to raise professional standards in management. It also helps its members develop management skills and knowledge of the music industry.

Yet another summer date for Will!

Will has just confirmed that he will also be performing at this year's Chiswick House Festival on 10th July. Buy tickets and find out more here.

It's a 4,000 capacity event and tickets cost �150 which includes food and drink.

Will will be sharing an all-star line up with The Feeling, Sophie Ellis Bextor, The Kooks and Goldfrapp. The doors open at 3pm and the event finishes at midnight.

Will is a big admirer of Chiswick House and the event benefits the Chiswick House Restoration Fund and Gardens Trust. The festival is made possible by the private members' club, the Soho House Group.

A big fan of performing at historic houses, the festival will see him showcasing brand new, classic and favourite material.

Meanwhile, Chiswick House Gardens are the birthplace of the English Landscape Movement and are amongst the most influential gardens in the world.

Following decades of wear and tear and limited funding, a major regeneration project is now underway to restore and revive them. Funded by money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, generous foundations and visionary individuals, the Festival is a significant part of the effort to raise the remaining �1million plus.

As you know, this summer Will is taking to the road and will be enticing lots of you to do the same when you follow him across the UK with a series of festival dates.

We know you all are environmentally savvy and so Eforests.co.uk are helping you offset your carbon emissions created by all your travel with a dedicated page, which you can access here.

Just to give you an idea of the scale, if Will were to perform at a concert of 20,000 fans, it's quite possible half of those fans travel by car to get to the concert venue, some may even get there by plane - that's a lot of carbon emissions for just one concert.

Multiply that by the amount of concerts and it's easy to see how emissions can build up.

Since our news about how to reduce your carbon emissions following Will around the country on his forthcoming festival tour, the response from you guys has been absolutely phenomenal.

To date you've planted 47 trees to offset your carbon emissions on your travels - that has to be almost a wood! Will is completely over the moon about how you've embraced this project and taken on the responsibility to give something back to the environment.

It's just been announced that Will is to headline the Avalon stage at this year's Glastonbury event on Saturday 28th June. Time still to be confirmed.

The Prince�s Trust update

As you know, Will is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, which helps change young lives with practical and financial support and by developing skills.

And Will has just helped to shortlist one of the finalists in a unique competition to design Love-your-World Eco goodie-bags for the forthcoming Capgemini Black and White Ball, Scotland's first carbon neutral ball to raise vital funds for some of the country's most disadvantaged young people.

He chose West Lothian pupil Zhanna Meek as one of three finalists in the competition.

Support Will and his brother

This year, Will is supporting his twin brother Rupert on a charity event for The Mood Foundation, which provides treatment for people with depressive conditions.

Rupert will be taking a four-man pedalo to navigate 133 miles of the River Thames over two weeks between 18th July-2nd August. Different guests will drop in on a day-to-day basis to help with the pedalling with Will joining in on the action on 2nd August in London.

If you would like to support the challenge, Will or any of the other guests, you can do so in a couple of ways:

Thanks to everyone's fantastic response to the album news.

As you can imagine, there's a lot going on behind the scenes at the moment with Will highly involved in all the preparations for album #4.

On a more personal note, he's very much looking forward to starting rehearsals for this summer's live dates while on the bicycle front, there's a bit of a hiccup with Will having to take it back to the shop but he's undeterred!

Glastonbury this weekend

Don't forget that Will is performing at Glastonbury this Saturday.

He will be headlining the Avalon stage there but don't worry if you're not able to make it in person as there will be all sorts of media coverage of the event to coincide with it, especially on Radio 2 and BBC3.

Look out for Will on the day and subsequent follow-up coverage early next week.
